Day In The Life Of

Day In The Life Of 22 July 2023

Here we have 2 very short stories. One is about how song tunes can get stuck in your head, and the other is about how some people say they love your work and they are very impressed until you ask them to really examine the work..The twist is is that when the ‘bluff'(/) is called the actions become almost petty and very different than from the first things that have been said. It does amuse me.

Untitled

Untitled 3 May 2023
Ink drawing.
This drawing is one of a series of drawings drawn in my hospital stay in May 2023.

After drawing about the goings on at the hospital the few drawings before this I really needed to draw something pretty. I was going through a really, blood and guts time of it, and took advantage whenever I didn’t have a cannula in my drawing hand when it didn’t hurt. This eased my emotions somewhat.

Experiences At The Hospital

Experiences At The Hospital. 5th May 2023
This work is more or less a conceptual work about the goings in and goings out of the patients in the hospital. Some get to go home, others turn into angels, while others have to face their fears and have to face them. Hospitals are not the nicest of places to visit for time off. Really. :-/ Still, they are places where many and most people do get to go home, all clean and patched up. Ink on A4 acid free card.

Cats In My Loungeroom. Completed 8 December 2022

A rather whimsical work, though the truth of the matter is that I have had 13 cats in my loungeroom, though quite some years ago. I used to rescue cats, but I do not do it on such a large scale these days. Unfortunately, people in my area who were renting that could not afford to rent anymore, left their animals behind for other people to take care of the homeless. Its quite the disgusting part about human nature isn’t it, right?

I Love Meow

I Love Meow. 1st Jan2022. ink on 220gsm on acid free card. A3 in size.

I Love Meow is a whimsical piece done in the cartoon style. As you can see, the work is drawn about an old cat lady who loves her 4 cats. The page has many banners saying the title of the work in glyphs- just like a little coded message.
There are many different types of pots scattered around this world. Pots off fur, cat poo smells, whiskers, playtime, pat cats pats, purrs, fur balls, cat scratches, claw stabs, whiskers, and above all, love. The 4 cats all have something to say which are so typical of cats being their own unique personalities. Reading them you will be heartened.
This small collection of in situs below can give you an idea of where the original can be placed and also where a large print of the work can be utilised as well. Original A3. Prints from A4 to poster size.

I enjoy using cartooning to come up with colourful, sometimes childish, artwork. Some cartooning is necessary for a particular concept etc, but drawing these can be so soothing for me, because i can just let go and doodle away- like this one. Serious thought can be used for my more serious works, but i do believe joy can be passed on with the almost silliness and wonder of these particular types of works.

In a smaller area which can draw a person in to read it.

A large poster print in a larger setting which a couple or more diners can use as a conversation piece. Or, a large print could quite well modernise and brighten a child’s room.

You Wanted More Cats.

You Wanted More Cats. 30 December 2021.

Just before the end of a passing year, I endeavour to keep to a tradition of making a drawing before the year goes out . Sometimes, it is not possible, but this time it was, and it is probably because most of us are at home having a quiet time in, not venturing out for parties so much, due to the new Omicron Virus. So before I entered into 2022, I drew this A3 sized work as something amusing to bide the time away. I do like a few easier works before I set out on a major work again. The inspiration for this was that recently, a fellow artist told me that ‘ You do love your cats’ due to me having quite a few drawings and some paintings of them. So I had a giggle, and called the bluff, and did this particular drawing of which another was added in 2022 titled ‘ I Love Meow’ in the January 2022.

This original is an A3 size on 220 GSM Acid Free Card. Drawn Comic style in ink outlining, and Derwent coloured pencils which gives it a ‘young feel’ about it. The texture in the work is made obvious for this reason. I guess it could go well, enlarged for a children’s room, or just a fun animal lovers abode.
It is colourful and some of the individual cat drawings are quite funny: ie. The drooling kitty, the anime kitty, the toothy kitty, and so on.

You Wanted More Cats. Original A3 in size, but can be enlarged to a similar sized poster sized print as shown below.

Move to Acquiescence

This is an A3 sized drawing in mixed Media- Watercolour and ink.
A drawing and painting.

It is a Conceptual work with representational Esoteric glyphs and imagery.

Description:

To the left of the centrally themed Stargazer Fish, we see a broken green hand painting a bright , teal, and pimply Stargazer fish.

There are people at the bottom of the art painting with strange bodies. All of their faces seem to be waiting for something, and they seem to show expressions of wondering as to’ what will be next’.

There is a cat person in the mix of this lined group as it fishes for fish in a little pond of water next to a shower drain.

Over to the right of the work on a black and white tiled and diamond patterned background, a break of gold lava flowing in tricklets across the floor towards the front of the people.

The stargazer fish, which is central to the drawing, is brightly coloured and stylised, and above its head at the top of the page is a weirdly fingered shaped hand throwing coins, water droplets, fire, diamonds, and a short sword into the air above the fish. The expression on the fish is unfazed, concentrating on itself being painted by the broken green hand.

The Concept in this drawing is about the artist, (though broken), is still lively and fresh (green) , with the ability to conceptualise how her business (fish) is going to be ‘painted’.

She has thrown all her elements into the business. There is danger across its whole game play. ( black and white tiles) . The danger of the Stargazer fish! …and as you know, doing business can be a bit of a gamble, Stargazer fish like to hide under the sand and catch unsuspecting prey by pouncing and gulping with a snap of it’s fishy sharp teeth!

Business can be like this, and as we become our own business, we have to watch out for people like the Stargazer Fish!

The humans below, though odd in their appearance, represent her own personality traits, and what elements occur while she plans, expresses and moves herself towards the overall art business vision.

The name of the work is a move to a place where she acquiesces her present situation and goes forth diplomatically with acceptance and somewhat blind faith, trusting in herself and her faith as it unfolds itself in time.

Move To Acquiescence is a work that has proven to be appreciated by artists due to its concept and the juxtopositioning of its imagery.

It has a profound conceptual narrative.

Gusto

Ink on acid free paper. A4

This is a disconcerting narrative of one of many interpretations of what is currently going on in our world presently. Clearly a conceptual drawing. The narrative draws attention to the greed and satiety in mankind that has caused an obliviousness to the current crises that we are in today. The sinkhole is the definite possibility of which we all may just get sucked into if we can become aware of ourselves and take responsibility.

Here we see a man gorging himself with the finest fruit, and a coffee decanter is falling into a sinkhole, which is situated in the middle of the table.

At the edge of the sinkhole is a peacock, symbolism of both pride, wealth, and royalty. There is also another bird, greasy and dark green from oil, with feathers ruffled. There is a salamander with its tongue hanging long , sitting on the man’s shoulder peering into the mess on the table. Behind the lizard is a hint of a green tree. On the man’s cheek are buildings from a city, but it is clear the man in in a beach setting. A hammer, is situated as if hanging in the air and the narrative may imply that the man caused the sinkhole by shattering the table.
The problem is is that no one can identify who, and whether the hammer did cause the shattering. Surreptitious blame is posed? The man seems oblivious to the finger pointing to him from across the table. There is a mode of peace through the yacht being full of tourists on the water behind the man. In the forefront of the picture outside the edge of the sinkhole is a car crashed which is positioned as if it is sinking into a hole. It is presumed the dead person lying on the ground near the car is thrown from the wreck, but is it?

Moose

This was a quick sketch for someone who had viewed my other works on social media and asked me if I could do one of her Chihuahua named Moose. This work is a digital manipulation of the sketch.
