DREAM CATCHER GIRL. CIRCA 2004

Dream Catcher Girl. Pastel on acid free paper. Circa 2004.

This little girl used to appear in my dreams a lot. I do not know who she is.She blows a kiss to the viewer.

She also reminds me a little bit of my sister when she was about 5 years of age.

But the resemblance stops at only possibilities.

LINOCUT PRINTING ON COTTON

Linocut printing on cotton. W.S.U. 2004.

This shows a portioned section of a much longer  & larger work.
Printmaking can have many good practical uses.

This is the same linocut , but hand painted after the initial print has matured.

GUITAR

Treated Plaster. 30th September, 2003

Guitar is done in the Minimalist Style.
I also love Minimalism. Brancusi’s work was a simplification of the things around him,

with the strength of what was really mattering in its visual communication.

Here’s a wonderful quote by Brancusi, the Minimalist Sculptor:  On form and essence
Quote:“What is real is not the external form, but the essence of things”. Unquote.

WORKING WITH VENEER TAPE: RUNNER

Mixed Media.  14th April, 2003

Making comparisons with the Drawn Line, then realising these approaches

into 3D sculptures using veneer tape, wood, and metal binding.

Practical approaches for this extending weave, can be used for blinds, and wall hanging sculptures.

WORKING WITH VENEER TAPE: CUBE

Veneer Tape. 14th April, 2003

Along with the Fan, and the Runner being made with veneer tape, this cube was

made without any kind of joining or fastening system, or glues.

This is purely a fully closed in cube where there is no lid, nor opening. The ends were tucked in.

The concept is how to use the Drawn Line into a 3D object/ sculpture.

Practical use could be as a seat if inside is stuffed before closure. Otherwise, object d’art.

WORKING WITH VENEER TAPE: FAN

Veneer Tape. 14th April, 2003

I made several works using veneer tape. This was about working the Drawn Line

into a 3D object.

The practical use for this fan was made to be used as a housed

sculpture underneath a glass table top for a coffee table.

THE WORKINGS OF TIME

Treated and painted plaster with embellishments. 2003. W.S.U

This work is about the mechanics of life and how we must go through these journeys, to learn and navigate it.

There is a push light in the middle of the light , and the two columns, one being black, and the other being white,

is representative of the balance of understanding needed to reach through and beyond the columns.

A very symbolic work about my son’s life and what is before, during, and after.

COLLOGRAPH

Ink on acid free thick printing paper. Circa 2003

This collograph was my first , and it was to get the feel of the new process.

SNAKE PRINT

Ink on acid-free thick paper. @2003.

To touch this print is very textured embossing.

The visual is of a dark maroon colour on a light cream coloured paper.

LEY LINES SCULPTURE

Treated Plaster. 2003

This work is about Ley lines and how, the most convenient route is taken with land formations.

These sculptured pieces, when matched together correctly, like jigsaw puzzle  pieces, it forms a complete circle,

which is not only a fully formed formation, but also one that is easily transformed- just like our land masses formulate over time.

The easiest path is the one of least resistance.
